Moving My Fiction from Medium to Wattpad

Over the last few weeks on Medium I have noticed a very large disparity between the amount of views my carefully crafted and edited stories get, versus the amount of views and reactions to a non-fiction article on a technical topic, that required a fraction of the effort, because it was essentially just me venting steam. I have noticed this previously with another article of mine, but attributed it to the fact that it was about Elon Musk, who seems to be a controversial figure. I assumed, with time people would discover the stories “organically”, and my readership would grow.

What is already becoming clear, is that Wattpad offers a better format for exactly the sort of work that I have been trying to do here with limited success: writing and publishing a larger work chapter by chapter — not as a blog or a series of journal articles, but as a coherent, ordered whole. What it doesn’t seem to offer, is monetization — but since writing, for me, is mainly a hobby, this point is rather secondary anyway. Also, with a maximum of one unique reader a day in total, my fiction stories would not earn me anything on Medium in the first place.
