Is Art Ever Finished Anymore?

Modern Technology Gives Us the Ability to Keep Revisiting & Tinkering

It’s a good question. More artists are revisiting their work these days.

Even if you’re not on Swift or Coppola’s level, you may have been tempted to rewrite a book remake an art project.

The modern tools allow our work to continually be “in-progress” which leads to even more paralysis about decisions and completion.

You can right a few of the wrongs, and gloss over mistakes — especially if the publishing or recording capabilities weren’t the way you wanted them to be.

Of course, there is something lost in this — the historical moment for instance, the growth as a writer or an artist, and the need to finish and move on.

Utilizing the same technologies though allows the old work and the new work to live side by side, inviting more debate, more ways to engage readers/viewers, and sharing the process along the way.
