I played PUBG for a class!

The gaming industry is booming right now because of one reason. Battle Royale style games have been dominating the gaming industry ever since the release of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds or PUBG for short. Release on 2017 of May, PUBG has been dominating the gaming industry, achieving the most concurrent players of all time, with a record of 3.2 million players all playing at the same time, beating the previous record of Dota 2, with 1.29 million concurrent players. That is why, for this reason, I decided to livestream myself playing PUBG.

I started playing PUBG back in August of 2017. Playing the game gave me so much exhilaration, to the point that my heart would beat quickly, especially when I have reached the point wherein there are 10 players left in the game. Of course, overtime, I would learn how to control my heart rate when situation gets intense. However, livestreaming myself playing was another story. I normally do not like getting public exposure, but for this assignment, I felt even more nervous. Despite not getting into the top 10, I still managed to give an okay performance of my playthrough.

Because of the technical limitations of my laptop and internet, there were a lot of variables that I had to take care of. I tried to stream a first time, but that did not end up well, which made me decide to cancel the streaming. I used Facebook Live as my software for streaming but using that did not give smooth frames while I was playing. Everything was choppy, and the sounds in-game could not have been heard. However, with more research, I learned that there are softwares where you can stream and record your games. OBS or Open Broadcast System enabled me to stream on FB Live with smoother frames, and better sounds. The software was very technical, but I was able to understand the basics of it. Because of the slow internet that I had, I had to adjust the quality of my stream so that I can play properly and at the same time, give the audience a show.

Overall, while playing the game, I received a lot of support from my friends. Most of the comments I received were from close friends, and friends I played PUBG with. The game I played was good, earning me 2 kills, which is a lot considering that the game does not rely on several kills to win. It was fun, and I can see myself streaming in the future. Maybe one day I can start streaming on Twitch.tv or YouTube. Here’s a link to my stream. Enjoy!
