You are the man of this house

This is about all those men, all around the globe who feel the pressure of being the man of the house and who sacrifice their passion.

Dear Parents,

You have a son and he is doing fine, if not fabulous then fine. You need to go easy on him. Don’t pressurise him with responsibilities. Don’t make him choose between his parents and his passion because he will choose you, you raised him, you gave birth to him, you mean the world to him. He can not hurt you but he will hurt himself in order to make you guys happy. Do you want a kid who does everything to make you happy but is not happy himself? If you ask this question to me, then my answer will be a clear NO. No, I don’t want to ruin his life. No, I don’t want him to suffer alone. No, I don’t want to see him doing things which does not make him happy. I do want him to be successfull but more than that I want him to be happy. I want him to laugh, as loud as he can. I want to see him cook, just because he loves doing that. I want to see him play, because it brings a smile on his face. I want him to do everything that makes him happy, and I am happy as long as he is happy. I want to see him grind towards that one goal which is his dream, and I want to be there for him whenever he fails. Not to make him feel like a failure, but to remind him why he started in the first place. As parents, you must have told your son that he will be the man of this house in the coming future, I want you to stop saying that. He cares about you and he is well aware of his responsibilities. When you say that very sentence, there is an explosion of emotions in his mind. It is not just a sentence for him, he can hear responsibility, financial security, regular income and many more things when you say this. But what if he wants to enter a creative field like writing, painting, music, acting and much more? There is no financial security in your struggling days and success comes after struggling. What will be his plan of action then? He will go for engineering, medical or other fields which give him that financial security, regular income and a 9–5 life. But do you want to see your son struggling for his own dream or doing a 9–5 job just for your sake? The call is yours. Ask this to yourself.
