Indeed, a question of great significance, Why is SEO important?

If you have a website of any business, then people might be able to search you online.

I get a lot of questions about SEO. For example, Why SEO is essential for the business? Why is SEO necessary for small businesses? Is SEO important for the website? Why is SEO important for online success? How to do SEO? What are the best techniques for SEO? And many more.

Let’s try to answer why it is essential.

Think of SEO as a supermarket. You go to the supermarket to buy corn flakes. The supermarket has a section for ‘Breakfast and Cereals.’ There you will find a lot of different things that people have for breakfast. In that, there will be a space where you will discover cornflakes.

Similarly, if you want to find something, you go to google and search it. After a few seconds, Google will try to give you results that are most relevant to what you are looking for. Nowadays, SEO is more important than ever, and it is inevitable for every webmaster to understand its true meaning and potential.

Different types of techniques, strategies, and plans are used to rank your website pages higher for generating more traffic, i.e., ‘Organic traffic’ in SEO.

I remember buying a burger from a very well know burger place in my city. I purchased 3 burgers, one for me and two for my friends. While eating those burgers, one of my friends said, the burger is fantastic, and asked from where did you buy it? I told the name of the burger place, and my friend did not know about that place. So he took his smartphone and googled it. To my surprise, he found nothing about that place on google.

Now let me tell you that they are very famous burger makers in the city and yet there was no information about them on google. The next day I went to them and said that I could not find anything about them on google, and they need to think about making their business visible to the public. They said, “We don’t need to. We have a big name in front of the place, a lot of people know about us, and we are doing good in terms of revenue as well”. And they did not care about my point of being more visible to the public.

This scenario would have been different if they had understood the importance of being visible.

It’s very tough to explain the importance of being visible online when they are happy with their old marketing strategies and do not understand the urgency of using digital marketing.

The burger place did not give importance to the fact that when people search for burgers, they only see brands like McDonald’s and Burger Kings and not theirs.

A lot of emphases has been put on local business SEO to have a broad reach and visibility, yet very few businesses care about it.

I see a lot of businesses want to grow, they want to be at the first position, they are more inclined towards other marketing strategies like Display and Social Media Marketing, but when it comes to SEO, I find them more reluctant.

Not all the business wants to invest their time and resources in SEO. They fail to understand that SEO is the thing that will help them to be on top of their competitors, and the more serious they will get about SEO, the more they will be able to beat the competition.

Not only local businesses, but some companies have a global target audience as well. And yet the need for SEO exists for those businesses. They want to show up at the top for whatever products or services they are selling and still don’t find SEO to be that important.

I mean, without proper utilization and optimization of SEO, how can one stand out of the crowd?

Using SEO is like self-healing yourself from the inside, which will also show results outside. Similarly, proper relevant contents that are of high quality, informative, educational, the contents that increase engagement, and the ones which are easy to access and navigate are all remedy of SEO. Practicing SEO will make others feel better about your website and business and give you a feeling of ease.

SEO is like a long term investment which will only make your business grow. It is not like ads that give you short term immediate results. It a kind of marketing tool that will provide you with slow but long term results.

For proper SEO utilization, it is important to give things in the hands of experts if you cannot understand it and do it by yourself.

There are a ton of agencies that will promise you that your website will rank at the top of the google search results in a week or a day or in a couple of hours too. But let me tell you one thing, SEO takes a lot of time and constant efforts. It’s undoubtedly not a thing that will give you great results in a few hours or days. To get the desired results, it takes about anywhere between 4–12 months. Like patients is the key to get high returns from your investments, the same applies to SEO.

So now you know, if the agency says it will get you there in no time or very less time, you need to run away from there and try some other agencies.

Or you can do it by yourself, It’s not that easy, but it isn’t that difficult either. Books, articles, videos, online courses, etc., everything is that at your disposal, it’s just about taking the efforts to do it.

2. Content: It’s true that search engines cannot read what’s in image and video, but improves the quality of the web pages. Most of the people nowadays find pictures and videos very appealing on a website. Other things like Infographics, slideshows, and articles also improve audience engagements.
