Does knowledge have an origin?

Think yourself. From the day we are born, we are taught to walk, speak, write, read, play and all other activities are either taught to us or influenced by others. Every person perceives differently from observing others. Each of us has a unique capability of understanding. We have evolved into a species with intelligent life after analyzing and experimenting a hundred, a thousand or a million times and are still on the road of evolution. So, let us come back to our question, “Does this knowledge we obtained so far have an origin?” It is difficult to obtain an absolute answer because knowledge is not just limited to humans but all living beings. Also, let me make this clear that we are looking here, from a ‘scientific’ perspective and not a religious one.

Knowledge originated from the reaction toward nature and, by nature, I mean everything, living and non-living, even the tiniest particle that is found in this known universe. I have always wondered about various discoveries that are made by researchers every single day and I ask myself how did they do it? Now, the moment I ask myself a question, it raises my curiosity. That leads me to think and conclude that curiosity is a factor that contributes the most to the formation of knowledge.

Now, again, the question arises, “Does curiosity have an origin?”. There can be a simple explanation if we think about it. What we feel around us is because of our senses. What if all our senses are blocked from birth? What will happen? There would be no feeling in our physical bodies. Thus, we would be just like an object but breathing. So, we can say that our senses are responsible for giving birth to curiosity in us and all life forms that are intelligent. Thus, we can assume that our feelings of hunger, pain, determination to survive, physical attraction, sense of touch, smell and taste all other small and big factors spark a light of curiosity within us which leads us toward knowledge. Hence, we can say that knowledge originated through life and the determination to survive. Now, we know from scientific studies that the human species is not the first-life form on earth so let me end this curious blog with a question, “Which life form stands at the origin of Knowledge”? I hope reading this sparks curiosity in you, which will give birth to new knowledge.
