The OnePlus 6T is what the iPhone XR should have been

The OnePlus 6T has just been announced, starting at £499, it’s definitely the best value for money phone you can buy.

OnePlus are very well known for their great value for money and the brilliant software the phones have. The OnePlus 6T follows this trend, but it does have trade-offs.

I’ll start with the most important addition to this phone, the in-display fingerprint sensor. I love these sensors, they’re not as quick as the standard ones but they’re better to use and look really cool. OnePlus claims the one on the 6T unlocks in 0.34 seconds, making it on par with the ‘slower’ fingerprint sensors. I think this is a great addition to the phone and is genuinely a great selling point.

The screen has also got bigger, thanks to the ‘teardrop’ notch. It is a 6.41-inch 1080 x 2340 AMOLED display. The colours are really nice and are truly one of the best panels on the market right now. The new notch gives the 6T a 86% screen to body ratio with more of that screen actually usable.

The OnePlus 6T has a dual-camera set up on the back, made of a 16MP f1/7 sensor and a 20MP f1/7 sensor. The front camera is a 16MP f/2.0 sensor. The cameras have been improved through software, giving you better low light photography and better detail. OnePlus has added a new night mode feature to the 6T, it opens the shutter for a fifth of a second, capturing more light for the photo. While I haven’t been able to test it properly yet, it seems like a great addition to the phone.

The battery capacity has also been improved on the 6T, it is now a 3,700 mAh cell (up from 3,200 on the 6). The increased battery size and the 1080p screen, the battery life on this phone will more than likely be great. The 6T still includes Dash Charge, allowing you to charge your from 0% to 60% in just 35 minutes.

The 6T also comes preloaded with Android Pie, the implementation is great, giving you smooth and fast performance. Oxygen OS is the skin OnePlus uses on top of Android and it is easily the best you can get on a phone, it’s snappy, smooth and features their own navigation system. While…
